MCSA’s seventh annual Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Valentines Project was coordinated again by Mildred Lum Kanja (ELA- 3). She writes: “Millions of our nation’s veterans receive health care in Veteran Administration (VA) facilities every year. However, it is sometimes the local communities that provide the care and recognition they deserve. ”
This year, Ms. Kanja collected 120 Valentine cards that MCSA students created with special greetings to acknowledge and honor our dedicated and courageous service men and women here in Hawaii (CASAS Competencies 0.2.3). The following MCSA classes participated in the project: ELA- 2 (P. Chang, and L. Tsubata); ELA-3 (M. Lum Kanja); ELA- 4 (L. Haia/ L. Yamasaki and S. Young-Pereira); ELA-5 (B. Hoffman); and ASE (S. Rokuta).
Ms. Kanja delivered the cards for distribution to our veterans at the Spark M. Matsunaga VA Medical Center and Tripler Army Medical Center in time for Valentine’s Day, February 14.
Each MCSA class that participated in this year’s Valentines Project will receive a Certificate of Thanks and Appreciation from the VA Public Affairs Office, on behalf of our courageous veterans in Hawaii.
